Constrain To Origin Move

Overview

Constrain To Origin Move moves selected components to the assembly origin and constrains them while maintaining their current orientation (rotation about their own origin). Use this when a component should be positioned at the origin, but should not be re-oriented to match the assembly axes.

How It Works

  1. Select one or more component occurrences.
  2. The command moves each component so its origin is at the assembly origin.
  3. Constraints are applied so the component stays at the origin while keeping its existing orientation.

Usage Instructions

  1. Open the assembly containing the components.
  2. Select the components to move to the origin.
  3. Click Constrain To Origin Move in the Placement panel.
  4. Review the new position and the created constraints.

Troubleshooting

  • Component does not move: Check for existing constraints/grounding that prevent repositioning.
  • Unexpected result: Verify the component’s origin planes are defined as expected.

Examples

  1. Move a bracket to the assembly origin: Select the bracket and use the command to reposition it while keeping its orientation.
  2. Move multiple supports to the origin: Select all supports, then run the command to move them to the assembly origin.
